The Chicago Central Area Decarbonization Plan is an actionable and comprehensive framework for urban carbon abatement. This plan is working with the city to develop an objective to reduce carbon emissions,
generate new jobs and envision the city as a useful vibrant, 24 hour urban core.  Working within the broader framework of the Chicago Climate Action Plan (CCAP), the CCAP engages the loop and surrounding area by clearly laying out a methodology that meets the goals of the CCAP, and reduces the 1990 carbon emissions level 25% by the year 2020.

Plug-in electric vehicles and the greater smart energy network were identified
as key strategies through this effort. They span several of the eight signature areas for reduction, including: Buildings, Urban Matrix, Smart Infrastructure, Mobility, Water, Waste, Community Engagement and Energy. Through the
award of this grant, the vision of this intelligent energy network proposed by Carbon Day, AS+GG and PostivEnergy Practice will come alive.
